The Day After

As I stare out the white-framed windows that look out to the endless sky in front of me, with a gentle breeze, I take in a deep whiff and fill my lungs with the cool night air. Then I turn right, and I am greeted by the sparkling lights in the distance of the buildings, rows of various heights of skyscraper buildings from the Central Business District. There are some times when the sky is so clear I see the stars shining, speckled like little bulbs in the far distance, and other times when it's an overcast night. The comforts of a queen-sized poster bed with white drapes lining all four sides, surrounding me with a sense of sheer solitude and privacy from the world. Smooth varnished elegant strips of warm wood sits beneath my feet, letting me feel closer to the element of earth.

I feel as if I've returned to a place called home, but even more alone.
